Tony Mowbray - Welcome To Celtic Football Club

Ballymena Shamrock CSC is delighted to welcome Tony Mowbray as the 16th manager of Celtic FC. Tony is joined by Mark Venus, Peter Grant and Neil Lennon in the new management team.

Tony was the man who started the huddle on the 23rd July 1995 before a freindly match with German side Kickers Emden. The first 11 players to take part in the Celtic Huddle were: Pat Bonner, Lee Martin, Malky Mackay, Tony Mowbray, Tosh McKinlay, Rudi Vata, Peter Grant, John Collins, Pierre van Hooijdonk, Andy Walker and Brian McLaughlin.

Tony stated “I hope that we can put together a team they are proud to support” as he directly addressed the supporters. “I know they are proud of their club and the tradition of their club anyway, but I would like to put my own stamp on it and make them proud to be Celtic supporters, seeing their team win and win with a bit of panache and style. “Hopefully we can score lots of goals and play in the Celtic tradition and it’s finding that balance, marrying entertaining football with a winning formula and that’s what we plan to do. “Hopefully the supporters will see the efforts going into that and we will leave no stone unturned in our attempts to try and produce that kind of football for them.”

Tony must become a manager who can lead our club, our dressing room and our board. We must all play our part from the stands in getting our SPL title back and once again become a force in Europe.

Nearly two decades after he was paraded as a Celtic player, Tony Mowbray will begin his reign as Celtic manager. He does so with the best wishes of the entire Ballymena Shamrock CSC family.

This is a huge job for Tony, but what a grand old job it is !!!
